Privacy Policy

Overview

This policy covers the public YU Minyanim app and the staff-only YU Minyanim Admin app. Both are designed to operate without advertising, analytics, or user tracking.

Data Collection

The public app does not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, or payment information. To provide notifications and the optional minyan-help feature, it processes limited technical and service data:

• A random app-installation identifier generated by YU Minyanim
• Your Apple Push Notification service token and notification preferences, when notifications are enabled
• The minyan, time, campus room, requested number of people, and response status when you use minyan help
• Standard network information, such as an IP address, that hosting providers necessarily receive when the app requests data

The random installation identifier and push token are not used for advertising or to identify you by name. No account is required to use the public YU Minyanim app.

YU Minyanim Admin

Authorized staff use YU Minyanim Admin to send a weekly Shabbos schedule image or PDF to the YU Minyanim service. The selected file, its schedule date, and its upload time are stored by our Cloudflare-hosted service and made available through YU Minyanim.

• The uploader requests access only to the photo or file explicitly selected by the user.
• The uploader password is stored on the device in the iOS Keychain only when “Keep me signed in” is enabled.
• Uploader credentials are used only for authentication and are not included in published schedule data.
• Uploaded schedules should not contain personal or sensitive information.

Minyan Participation Feature

The optional minyan-help feature lets users request or offer help for a particular posted minyan. Its shared counters and notifications are processed through the app's Cloudflare-hosted service; compatible Apple CloudKit notification records may also be processed.

• Participation is anonymous.
• No name, contact information, or random installation identifier is displayed to other users.
• Other users see only the relevant minyan details and aggregate request/response counts.

Notifications

If enabled, notifications are delivered using Apple Push Notification service. The app's service stores the push token, random installation identifier, and alert preferences needed to route those notifications. You may disable notifications at any time in device settings.

Third-Party Services

YU Minyanim uses Apple services, including Apple Push Notification service and CloudKit, and Cloudflare hosting and storage to operate app features and publish staff-uploaded schedules. These providers may process data under their own terms and privacy policies. The apps do not use third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking technologies.

Retention and Choices

Operational records and uploaded schedules are retained only as needed to provide and secure app functionality. You can stop future push delivery in iOS Settings. To request deletion of app-service records or an uploaded schedule, contact us using the address below.

Children's Privacy

YU Minyanim does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Policy Updates

We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by the Effective Date above.
